Clinton and Cap Coast produced an absolute classic to end the 2018 Premier League season, with the ‘Grubbies’ taking out a tight contest 1-0 in extra time after 90 minutes hadn’t broken the stalemate. The division 1 final was one of the best games in recent times and one that will be long talked about.
The day turned out to be one of mixed success for the Gladstone based 2018 premiers with the Community Men’s team defeating Cap Coast White 3-0 in the first Intercity Challenge match of the day, while their Division Two Premiership team lost to Frenchville 3-1 in the other Premier League final of the day. Still, two out of three isn’t bad!
Frenchville had a great day, not only taking out the above mentioned final but also prevailing over Gladstone’s women’s champions Meteors 2-1 in the Women’s Intercity Challenge.
Congratulations once again to Clinton especially for the well organised hosting of the day and of course for their overall successful year, topped off by winning the Wesley Hall Cup. A big thank you to the clubs who supported the Intercity Challenge and in some instances put teams out that perhaps weren’t exactly what they would have liked but they made it happen regardless.
